Welcome to Pisgah Mountain Life! In 1994 my husband and I purchased 25 acres of undeveloped land on Pisgah Mountain Road in rural Logan county, Arkansas. Some people purchase woodlands for retirement homes, hunting cabins, or private investment purposes. There were no dreams of grandeur here, we were simply looking for a way to survive. We took on an installment land contract for about the roughest piece of land any human could ever attempt to live on! The ridge is over 850 feet almost straight down, and of the 25 acres, only about 5 are semi-flat.

We weren’t able to actually move onto the land until 2004, and the conditions are still what most would consider “roughing it”. But after raising 5 kids and fighting the rat race of day to day survival in cities and towns across this country (my husband was a construction welder) we feel truly blessed to finally – truly – be home. My husband’s favorite saying now is – “We have the rest of our lives to work on this.”

This blog may seem hard for some to follow, but I’ve tried to separate the posts out into categories and put place holders at the top. The “Farm Life” category is just what it sounds like, our personal life and times here on the farm. The blog is co-authored by Patti Ann Stafford. There’s a saying that “everyone in Arkansas is related some how or way”, and it would take me all day to explain how Patti and I are related… so just suffice it to say – she’s family!
